Replant them and
they will grow...
As the 2011 summer temperatures continue to heat up in San Diego our vineyard grapes are now going thru veraizon or color change and the Estate grapes are currently at 16 brix. Recently 650 rooted cuttings of the original grapevines from 1999 were replanted with the help of the East County Vintners association and Maness Vineyards Volunteers.
News coverage of the planting and BBQ event was covered by Miriam and Mark Raftery of the East County Magazine which emphasized the importance of grape growers in the area for wine makers to buy grapes from.
One month later the young vines are thriving and a new Mission Criolla Chica grapevine section was also added with rare plants once planted centuries ago by the Spansh Padres around the Missions. Port Wine will eventually be made from these grapes.
Once again, thank you all very much to Maness Vineyards, the volunteers and staffing who have returned our vineyard back to its amazing grace. Bravo, well done.
